To host or join a Multiplayer session, you must connect using:
- GameSpy if you want to connect over the Internet
- A Local Area Network (LAN)

Using GameSpy
GameSpy is an Internet Multiplayer service that Flight Simulator uses to connect you with other players around the world. Before connecting via GameSpy, you need to set up an account. You can create a GameSpy account from within Flight Simulator.
To create a GameSpy account
You will receive a message verifying that GameSpy has created your account. |
To connect via GameSpy

If you forget your GameSpy password, you can easily retrieve it.
To retrieve your GameSpy password
You will receive an e-mail from GameSpy with your password. |
Using Local Area Networks (LANs)
Local Area Networks (LANs) connect computers that are usually in close physical proximity or that share common network servers. LANs are most often used by companies and organizations for the purpose of sharing files and resources.
You must be signed into your LAN before trying to create a Multiplayer session in Flight Simulator using the LAN.

Join Direct to Host (LAN)
A Multiplayer LAN session is only visible on the host computer's subnet. There may be other players on the LAN who are on a different subnet. They can still join the host session, but they must have the host computer's internet protocol address (IP address) to connect directly to the host session. See below for instructions on determining the host IP address.
